Short Bio

Alan practiced as an advocate for 40 years and was by his own admission an aggressive trial lawyer. He has acted as a Judge of Cape High Court. After undergoing extensive mediation training both locally and abroad at the Institute for Peace and Dialogue in Switzerland, he has over the past 8 years mediated a vast number of disputes in many different conflict situations including multi-party disputes. Alan frequently addresses audiences on Mediation and has been a part of the UCT Mediation Training Team since it’s inception. Alan serves on three mediation panels and is an elected member of the ADR Forum of the Western Cape Government. Alan is a founding member of the Mediation Foundation for Peace and Justice, Mediation in Motion and of The Nelson Peace Centre.
