With many years' experience as a specialist litigator in the CCMA, Bargaining Councils and Labour Courts, Raymond heads the Employment Law Department of Garlicke & Bousfield Inc, one of the oldest and most prestigious law firms in the country. Not only has he practised in his chosen field as a partner in other firms of attorneys but he has also been involved in working at the coalface of employee relations as the Employee Relations Executive of Mass Discounters (Game and Dion Stores). In that capacity he has represented Mass Discounters in collective bargaining issues at the highest level throughout Africa. He also has extensive experience in employment law in the context of local government and has presented seminars on behalf of the KwaZulu-Natal Local Government Association to representatives of municipalities throughout KwaZulu-Natal. Raymond has served as the Vice-President of the KwaZulu-Natal chapter of the South African Society for Labour Law, has written numerous articles on labour-related matters in the local press and has presented many seminars on the subject. He is passionate about mediation as the most cost-effective, constructive and powerful means of resolving disputes, not only in the realm of employment relations, but also in any other sphere where conflict arises.
