Jacques Joubert practiced as an advocate at the Cape Bar for almost 15 years. He is an ADR Group (UK) accredited mediator and has specialised in commercial mediation since 2008. He has built a successful commercial mediation practice that has allowed him to become a full time mediator. Jacques trained mediators for the built environment between 2010 and 2013. In 2014 he trained more than 120 senior public prosecutors in mediation skills. Jacques has since 2013 been involved in the training of commercial mediators for UCT in association with MiM Training. He has practiced law in Canada where he first discovered the potential of mediation. Jacques is the author of the sometimes irreverent blog Woza Mediation South Africa and has written mediation articles for several overseas publications. He is fascinated by dispute system design and neuroscience, a fascination, which has helped him play a leading role in the design of the MiM process connecting mediators with their clients. Jacques is vice-chairperson of Mediation in Motion, a not for profit association of fellow mediators. He is one of South Africa’s most experienced commercial mediators.
