After she matriculated in 1990, she spent two years in military training (1991 at the South African Army Female College in George and 1992 at the South African Medical Services in Pretoria). She obtained B.OT at the University of Pretoria (UP) in 1995 and the Post-Graduate Diploma in Vocational Rehabilitation at UP in 2000. She became a Certified Blankenship Functional Evaluation Evaluator in 2015. For the first ten years of her career, she had worked mainly in the psychiatric and vocational rehabilitation fields, but also gained experience in orthopaedics, paediatrics and palliative care. She also worked as student liaison, part-time lecturer at UP and held the position of acting section head at 1 Military Hospital from 2002 to 2004. For the past ten years she had established her own private practice in medico-legal assessments where she has the roles of therapist, supervisor and manager. She is a member of OTASA (Occupational Therapy Association of South Africa) and active member of SAMLA (South Africa Medico-Legal Association) and APRAV (Association for the Protection of Road Accident Victims).
