I am presently an Advocate and a member of the Johannesburg Bar. I have been a practicing member of the bar for 7½ years. Prior to joining the Bar, I was a practicing attorney for 11 years and an Associate Director at Mayat Nurick and Associates Inc. I am a member of the Bar Councils Advocacy Training committee, where junior advocates are trained in the art of trial advocacy. I was appointed as a Commissioner of The Small Claims Court in March 2017. I am, in addition, a member of SAMLA (South African Medico Legal Association) and was appointed as the SAMLA Director of Membership in 2017. I have extensive experience in personal injury litigation, family law, criminal law and commercial matters. My practice comprises mainly High Court litigation and motion court work. I accordingly work in a very litigious environment. An environment where misinformation and misunderstandings are the order of the day and where the trial rolls are clogged with matters that could easily be resolved, if people could be heard. I believe that litigation ensues when people have lost the ability to speak to each other. This, for me is where mediation fits in, it restores humanity, dignity and allows for the rebuilding of relationships.
