Dr Anita Parbhoo qualified as a Doctor at UCT in 1996. She initially worked in Port Elizabeth, and then worked and travelled in the United Kingdom for a few years. After returning to Cape Town, she worked in a family orientated general practice and in Primary Health Care Clinics in the Clothing Industry where she strengthened her clinical practice skills and enjoyed forging relationships with families in the area. There she also started her journey into health care management. She is passionate about child health and wellness, and currently works at a Paediatric Tertiary Referral Hospital - Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital - as a Medical Manager, where she has been for 10 years, engaging with families and advocating for the rights of children. She is currently doing a Masters in Public Health through the University of the Western Cape, which has strengthened her love for empowering all categories of staff at the hospital in terms of Leadership and Management skills. She completed the Medical Negligence and Commercial Mediation Training course conducted by MiM and UCT in September 2018. She is married with 2 children.
