Ferdie Lochner is a technology thought leader, strategist, mentor, conversationist and consultant now building out a cyber law division for a local family law firm. While the new division focuses on supporting clients with both civil and criminal contraventions emanating from the virtual world, Ferdie's expertise is in drafting of IT tenders and IT contracts, inclusive of Service Level Agreements, and helping to solve contractual disputes, whether of an IT service nature, whether involving IT tenders, software licensing disputes, electronic transactions or social media harm. Having served for the last 14 years as Finance Head and software custodian for the IT Department of the City of Cape Town, Ferdie is well acquainted with the public sector and its statutory environment. Among several qualifications Ferdie also holds a PhD in Business Management and Administration (Technology Management) from the University of Stellenbosch Business School, and remains active in the academic sphere, among others as contributor, part-time student in law, study supervisor and associate for the Institute for Futures Research (IFR) at his alma mater. Apart from interests in conflict management and the Civil Rights movement, Ferdie is also a keen environmentalist focusing on Namibia, Botswana, San rock art, birding and landscape photography.
