Short Bio

I have been an admitted attorney for more than 23 years, having been admitted as such in 1995. Prior to that I have done articles of clerkship for two years. On my admission as an attorney I practiced as the state attorney mainly in rendering legal advice as well as general litigation involving three spheres of government,(national, provincial and local government), represented the judiciary, acted for Parliament as well as other state organs. Because of cooperative governance imperatives i have spent most time mediating and/or arbitrating between the various organs of the state, prior to and post litigation. The above approach was adopted in respect other litigation in general as over time we inculcated a new culture and/or practice of exhausting alternative dispute resolution mechanism mostly in Health's medical negligence, police unlawful assault, arrest and detention, other personal injury claims emanating from the correctional services facilities as well as contractual disputes, immigration, evictions, motor vehicle collisions, debt collections, various interdicts involving taxi violence, service delivery and/or student protests. For more than five years I have been the Legal Assessor and Chair of the Inquiries held by the Professional Conduct Committee appointed by the Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA). I am very passionate about access to justice, result driven in pursue of fairness and conscious about the competing interests, as well as the dignity of anyone involved in a dispute or conflict
